PLEASE VOTE ON FEBRUARY 15
On January 21, Don Marotto introduced Commissioner Ray Torres from District 4 of the Jackson Fire Department. District 4 includes stations on County Line Road and West Commodore Boulevard.
Mr.Torres and his squad spoke on the importance of voting for the District’s proposed budget at our neighborhood firehouse on February 15 between 2 and 8pm. Mail in ballots can also be cast. Applications for those ballots are available at the concierge desk or easily downloaded from Town Square posting dated January 28 or mens club website home page.
He pointed out that local fire officials are anxious to obtain more support from the community they serve. They have been visiting various developments to champion that cause. With notable growth in our town, the District’s responsibility has increased, as clearly reflected in call volume and staff overtime. The threat of station consolidation and reduced response time is also a concern, as is the need for better equipment and station maintenance.
Ray noted that the 2024 voter turnout was disappointing and his team hopes to see many more of us voting.
Ray and his team did a great job responding to many questions and comments from the floor. Vince Scatuccio reminded everyone about the fires currently plaguing California. While the environment isn’t as risky here, the summer forest fires of the past few years are troublesome.
Gene Jacono and Linda Marotto graciously thanked the firemen for the great work they do. Commissioner and Men’s Club member Phil Goldman also indicated that he is available and delighted to answer any additional questions.
